Our program is composed of four, two-hour sessions offered on Saturdays from 8:00-10:00am.
Lessons are structured toward beginner and intermediate youth sailers between the ages of 9 and 16. Each session will include hands-on instruction on land and on the water.
This program will focus on:
- Boat and water safety
- Recognizing and understanding parts of a sailboat
- Knot tying
- Sail trim and points of sail
- Boat control
- Tacking and gybing
- Sailing with a jib
- Dinghy racing
- Rigging, derigging, and boat care
- and much more!
Skills and techniques will be taught on land, demonstrated, and practiced. All sailing students will be eligible to compete in the youth regatta at Chatfield State Park this summer! Instructions for signup will be in your welcome email after purchase.
